A Letter From Chief Stacy Amikwabi

Aniin / hello relatives,

As the snow settles in and the year comes to a close, I want to send warm Christmas greetings to each of you near and far, on the land and in the towns, in the busy days and the quiet ones.

Christmas is a time to gather, to share, and to remember what carries us through: family, kinship, good hearts, and the old teachings looking after one another, especially when the nights are long. In our way, we don’t measure wealth by what we stack up, but by what we give out.

And with a little humour, if you see me out there shoveling like I’m training for the Olympics… just know I’m doing “winter ceremony” (and also trying to keep the doorway from disappearing). 😄

May your home be warm, your table be full, your laughter be loud, and your spirit be steady. If this season is a hard one for you, know you are not alone there is always a place for you among your people.

From my family to yours: Merry Christmas, and a good turning into the New Year.
Miigwetch,
Ogimaa Dhizighaud Bimoset
Chief Stacy Amikwabi
